Okay so being a beginner in the makeup game can be a pretty hard task to tackle.  What’s a highlight?  Why do I need it?  What does the concealer do?  How is that different from the foundation?  Trust me, we understand that sometimes you just need to go back to basics.  So we did.

Here’s a quick guide below for makeup beginners that can give you a little bit more information as to what’s what for face makeup essentials.  We also added just a couple of affordable choices in the links below but you can definitely try a variety of different products to see which one works best for you.


Cleanser

Clean your face, you want to start with a fresh and clean canvas.  Using the right cleanser will allow you to pamper your skin prior to applying makeup.

Moisturizer

Primer

Concealer

Powder

Bronzer

Used to imitate the appearance of a natural tan, bronzers are used to highlight the cheekbones and add contour to the face in a natural-looking way.  Its used as a way to enhance color on the face.

Blush

Highlight

Highlighting is meant to give you that natural glow on the cheekbones, brow bone, above the eyebrow, down the nose, and even just above the upper lip (on the bow).   It subtly draws attention to certain parts of the face that you want accentuated.
